Accessibility statement
BURIDA is committed to making its website and online services accessible to everyone, regardless of hardware, software or disability, in accordance with the WCAG 2.1 level AA guidelines.
Last updated: 08/09/2026
Compliance status
Partially compliant
The website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA: the items listed below are in place, but some content or features still have known non-conformities.
Scope
This statement applies to the public website, the online procedures (membership, declaration of works, deposit, authorisations, appointments…), the user area and the login pages.
Target standard
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, published by the W3C. The HTML code of the key pages is also checked with the W3C validator.
What is in place
- A "Skip to content" link on every page, visible from the first Tab key press.
- A semantic page structure (header, navigation, main content, footer) and a proper heading hierarchy.
- The language of every page declared in the code, in all seven languages offered, with right-to-left reading direction for Arabic.
- Alternative text on every meaningful image; decorative images are ignored by screen readers.
- A visible keyboard focus indicator on links, buttons and form fields.
- Accessible labels on icon-only buttons (menu, theme, language, back to top).
- Colour contrasts checked on the texts and components of the design system, in both light and dark themes.
- A dark theme and support for the system's "reduce motion" preference.
What remains to be done
- PDF documents (certificates, forms, annual reports) are not all tagged for screen readers.
- Some content published by editors (articles, events) may contain images without a description or poorly structured headings.
- Interactive maps and some home page animations do not yet have a complete text alternative.
- Videos and audio content are not systematically captioned or transcribed.
Evaluation method
Self-assessment carried out by BURIDA's technical team: review of layouts and views, automated checks for images without alternative text and duplicate identifiers, HTML validation of key pages with the W3C validator (Nu HTML Checker) and verification of the design system's contrast ratios.
